Dutch designer Johanneke Procee presents her “Keukencabinet” (kitchen cabinet). A wheeled section can close the unit when it is not in use. Procee makes use of veneered particleboard, bamboo for the counter-top and leather straps to secure stored items.
Procee was inspired by her travels in South America where she says they define the space of a kitchen differently. “The compact spaces inspired me to approach the different functions a single room house needs to have from an other perspective” she says.
“Keukenkabinet is a project about opening a space at the moment one needs it” says the designer. “It’s a link between two worlds. When the cabinet is closed, it’s a piece of furniture that’s a part of the living space. By opening the cabinet you literally create a new space, a compact kitchen”.
